NEW DELHI: The Board is concerned over Sourav Ganguly's poor form. According to the Board president Ranbir Singh Mahendra, Ganguly "has to improve." He said this in an interview to BBC World. Ganguly's form was a "matter of concern," Mr. Mahendra commented in the interview to be aired on Friday. "The selection committee is definitely going to look into it," he stressed as he spoke on various aspects of cricket administration. On the matter of relieving Ganguly from captaincy, Mr. Mahendra said, "Well, the replacement (of Ganguly) is to be considered by the selection committee, but definitely as far as the performance...I tend to agree over this point that he has to improve..in the sense that he has to score."
A professional look
The Board president revealed that when Ganguly was conveyed this concern, he assured he would try to improve. "I talked to them (selectors) on a couple of occasions and told them not to overlook players who are performing and see that the team plays team." Mr. Mahendra assured that to give the Board a professional look, a CEO will possibly appointed by this year end. "Even my predecessor also agreed with me on this point, and we are seriously thinking to go for that...the matter will be discussed in the general body," he said. The Board's office, if Mr. Mahendra has his way, will also move from Mumbai to Delhi. "The Mumbai office is very old. Right from the inception of the BCCI, the Board's office is in Mumbai. I am of this view that the Mumbai office should be shifted to Delhi."
