Smart recovery in rupee

MUMBAI: The rupee on Thursday rallied smartly against the U.S. currency due to strong trade and foreign fund inflows amid a retreating dollar overseas in fairly active trading at the interbank foreign exchange market even as rising oil prices dampened sentiment.

Closing at 43.5800/5850 a dollar, sharply higher from yesterday's finish of 43.6500/6550, the Rupee appeared set to resume its north-bound sojourn on the back of rising foreign institutional investment inflows into the equity markets.
