CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited has adopted a multi-pronged strategy to diversify its products, increase its production and marketing level and create long term bond with milk suppliers, the Managing Director, Devender Singh, told media persons here on Thursday. He disclosed that a representation had been made to the Chandigarh Administration to allot booths to the Federation for the sale of Vita products in the City Beautiful on the pattern of Verka of Punjab. The Federation had decided to introduce a group insurance scheme to provide a financial cover of Rs. 60,000 each for the regular and committed members of Dairy Cooperative Societies. Each member would be covered by paying annual premium of only Rs.10. And for the first time, white credit cards would be issued to those who supplied milk in the lean season. Each card holder could avail loan of Rs. 50,000 from the Bank for purchasing milch animals without any collateral security. Mr. Singh said that it had been decided to prepare a panel of doctors to provide readily available services for the milch animals. It was also proposed to set up 60 dairy farms with the financial assistance of banks and preference would be given to committed suppliers. About 20,000 litres of milk per day would likely be procured through these dairy farms. Steps were being taken to strengthen marketing of milk. Milk bars would be opened in each sector developed by Haryana Urban Development Authority, mini secretariat, police complex, bus stand and railway station.
