Gadag ahead in educational infrastructure

GADAG:
Gadag district is poised to become the first district to provide the basic infrastructure required for education, according to the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, R. Ramalinga Reddy.
Participating in functions arranged in Gadag and Mundargi during his visit to the district on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy stated that once work on 143 classrooms, 92 toilets and 121 school compounds, for which the sanction has been accorded, is completed, Gadag district would have provided all the educational infrastructure required.
Fifty-eight Karturba Gandhi Residential Schools have been sanctioned this year, and the bulk of them are located in north Karnataka, he said. An amount of Rs. 15 lakhs will be provided to each school that does not have a building. An additional 114 schools will be started in the backward taluks identified by the Nanjundappa committee.
