HYDERABAD: The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked the Anti-Corruption Bureau to conduct special drives to check corruption and provide clean and caring administration. Dr. Reddy has wanted ACB officials to take special care so that honest and sincere officials are not harassed just because of some anonymous complaints given by some unscrupulous elements. Reviewing the monthly performance of the ACB at a meeting here on Wednesday attended by the Chief Secretary, Mohan Kanda, Dr. Reddy wanted quick action by various departments to dispose of the cases relating to enquiries pending against corrupt employees. The ACB Director-General, S.S.P. Yadav, the Vigilance and Enforcement Director, S.A. Huda, and the Secretary (political), C. R. Biswal, were present. The Chief Minister noted that the Government had given permission regarding 659 cases/enquiries pertaining to 27 departments from June last up to now. He wanted officials, especially those of the ACB, to take steps to plug wastage and leakages and avoid revenue loss to departments so that more welfare schemes could be taken up for the downtrodden.
