Ban on digging of roads in NDMC areas

NEW DELHI: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has imposed a ban on cutting of roads in its area from June 15 to September 30. According to a NDMC release, the ban on digging of roads would also apply to essential utilities except for repairs and maintenance work.

Book on Jinnah released

NEW DELHI: A book, "A Corrective Reading of Indian History; Vol.1: Jinnah", written by Asiananda was released by the former diplomat, K.P. Fabian, at a function here on Wednesday.

Published by Media House, the book takes a new look at the role of Jinnah in the Indian freedom struggle. The book release function was followed by a discussion on the subject.

Load-shedding

NEW DELHI: Several parts of Delhi will remain affected by load-shedding on Friday, according to North Delhi Power Limited. Power shutdowns will be done at Dhirpur (10 a.m. to 2-30 p.m.), Shakti Nagar and Prem Nagar (10 a.m .to 1 p.m.) and Rohini's Razapur village (10 a.m. to 11 p.m.).

Similarly, BSES Yamuna will resort to load-shedding in Harsh Vihar (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Indra Park and Sad Nagar (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Jaffarpur, Naveen Place and CRPF Enclave at Vinoba Enclave (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.), Karkardooma (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Matiyala (12 noon to 1 p.m.).

Lecture on education system

NEW DELHI: Ansal Institute of Technology in Gurgaon organised a lecture by Demian Smith, Special Assistant to the US Ambassador in India, to strengthen the educational association between India and the United States. The main objective of the lecture was to give exposure to students about the education system in the US at the school and higher levels. During the interactive session, a large number of students put forward their queries and doubts which were duly answered by Mr.Smith.

Online reservation service launched

NEW DELHI: Tourists facing problems in getting hotel reservations during the summer rush can now heave a sigh of relief as India's first online hotel reservation service has been launched by the Hotels Club.

The website, provides confirmed online booking of over 300 hotels in 95 tourist destinations all over the country.

The website provides complete information on all packages provided by the hotels. People can pay online through ICICI gateway and save the hassle of carrying too much money while travelling, Mr. S Kohli of the Hotel Club said.

The website provides a wide choice from three star to five star hotels along with a host of economical packages, he said. According to Mr Kohli, one can become a free member of the club by logging on to the website www. Hotels club ORG.
