DAVANGERE: The Janata Dal (Secular), which on its own offered to support the Congress to form a coalition Government, is welcome to break away from the coalition if it is not happy with the performance of the Government, said Ambarish, Mandya MP and Kannada film star. Mr. Ambarish told presspersons here on Friday that there is no need for the Congress to continue in the Government against all odds. The Congress leaders, including the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President, B. Janardhana Poojary, and the Cooperation Minister, R.V. Deshpande, had given a fitting reply to the Janata Dal (S)'s derogatory remarks. He said if the two parties decide on a "Lakshman rekha" and concentrate on giving good administration, the coalition will have a smooth sailing. If infighting is stopped, the Congress can get a comfortable majority in the next Assembly elections. About the reported statements of the Governor of Maharashtra, S.M. Krishna, returning to active politics, the MP said there is nothing wrong in it. Mr. Ambarish said Vokkaligas have not been given prominence in the State and he recalled days when there were 10 MPs from the community in the State.
KPCC appointment
Asked specifically about the KPCC presidency, Mr. Ambarish said the party High Command will pick a suitable candidate based on the inputs from various quarters. He said MPs must be taken into confidence in the appointments to boards and corporations.
