PATNA: Six persons, including the local MLA of the dissolved Assembly, were injured in a clash between Bharatiya Janata Party workers and Bihar State Electricity Board staff during a protest against irregular power supply in the State capital on Thursday. The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha activists, who had assembled in front of the BSEB office on the busy Bailey road, started throwing stones at the building. Two security guards were injured leading to a clash, the Director (Security) of the BSEB, R. N. Rai, told PTI.
Claim disputed
BJP sources, however, said the party workers led by Navin Sinha were demonstrating peacefully in front of the office. The board staff locked the main gates and started throwing stones in which Mr. Sinha, district BJP youth wing president Satyendra Kushwaha and a few other workers were injured. Mr. Sinha, who received a head injury, was taken to the government hospital. His condition was stable.
Protesters chased away
After nearly 10 minutes of a ding-dong battle , the police arrived on the scene and chased away the protesters, official sources said. An additional police force has been deployed in the area.
