Burglars have a field day

CHENNAI:
Twenty-two sovereigns of jewellery and Rs. 4,000 in cash were stolen in three burglaries in the city on Wednesday. According to the police, nine sovereigns of jewellery was stolen from a house on 6th Street in Poompuhar Nagar under the Kolathur Police limits. The Kolathur police are investigating.
Thieves stole eight sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 2,000 in cash from a house on Puducheri Street, Thathanguppam in Villivakkam.
A house on Hussain Maistry Street, Royapuram, was targeted by burglars, who decamped with five sovereigns of jewellery and Rs. 2,000 in cash.
Thieves broke into a house on 1st Lane, Association Road, Madhavaram, and stole a VCD player. A case has been registered with the Madhavaram Police.
