KOCHI: The management of St. Albert's College on Thursday issued a memo to faculty member Ramachandran Potty for talking to the members of the Syndicate sub-committee of Mahatma Gandhi University, who visited the campus on Monday. The Syndicate sub-committee had come to the campus in connection with the probe against the Principal of St. Albert's College for trying to disrupt the centralised valuation camp of fourth semester postgraduate examinations. Professor Potty, who received the memo on Thursday, is the State leader of the All Kerala Private College Teachers Association (AKPCTA). The management had on Wednesday suspended another faculty member, Sebastian K. Antony, for allegedly supporting the students' agitation against the change in academic timings. AKPCTA will organise a "Save St. Albert's convention" here on Friday. A press release issued by the association said that the Principal was taking action against faculty members who opposed his style of functioning. Meanwhile, students, under the banner of SFI, on Thursday staged a protest in front of the college against the management decision to fix the academic timings between 8 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. Students demanded that the management should immediately withdraw its decision. The Principal of the college said that students of the college had not taken part in today's protest. He said that those who participated in the agitation belonged to the other colleges in the city. Meanwhile, the Kerala Private College Employees' Union has asked the management of St. Albert's College to revoke the suspension order issued to Sebastian K. Antony.
