HUBLI: The State Forest and Environment Department will submit a report within three months in connection with the Hubli-Ankola railway line after conducting a survey of the route alignment mentioned in the revised proposal on the project. A decision to this effect was taken on Saturday evening at a meeting chaired by the district-in-charge Minister, S.R. Morey, after discussions with officials of the South Western Railway and Department of Forest and Environment. K. Shivakumar, Principal Secretary, Department of Forest and Environment, assured that the department would take up the survey in coordination with the railway officials as soon as they submit the revised proposal on the project. He said the department will be able to complete the survey and submit its report within three months. Earlier, officials of the Forest Department wanted the SWR to submit a fresh proposal by making the alignment run parallel to the highway. Trilok Nath Perti, General Manager, SWR, said that according to the revised proposal, the forest land requirement has been cut down by 200 hectares and the alignment runs almost parallel to the highway. At this point, Mr. Pralhad Joshi intervened and said that asking for a fresh proposal would further delay the implementation of the project.
