Following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Saturday: groundnut oil - 50, palmolein oil - 39.25 sunflower oil - 47, tamarind (flower variety) - 20 to 28, tamarind (karipuli variety) - 42 to 47, chillies (new)- 10 to 15, rice (2716) - 13, rice (superfine) - 15, rice (Samba Masoori) -- 15 to17, rice (Sona Masoori) - 17 to 19, black gram (pottu minapappu) - 27 to 28.50, red gram (kandipappu) - 25, red gram (pandiripalem) 27, red gram (Nagpur) 29.50. __Staff Reporter

Power shutdown

Power will be shutdown for consumers in Governorpet section on Sunday for replacement of 11 Kv lines from 6.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The affected areas will be Gudavallivari street, Besan Road, Dunnavari street, Maddulapallivari street, Sithapati Suryanarayana street, Yamalavari street, Museum Road, Gopalreddy Road, M.G. Road, Attaratiah street, Sivalayam street, Gopalakrishnaiah street, Akulavari street, K.S. Award for lecturer

BJYM demands

The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has asked the Durga Temple Executive Officer to resign in view of the irregularities committed by officials of the temple vigilance wing. Housing for tsunami victims

The Collector, Naveen Mittal, has urged NGOs to build strong houses for tsunami victims.
