Power shutdown

Power will be shutdown for consumers in Governorpet section on Sunday for replacement of 11 Kv lines from 6.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The affected areas will be Gudavallivari street, Besan Road, Dunnavari street, Maddulapallivari street, Sithapati Suryanarayana street, Yamalavari street, Museum Road, Gopalreddy Road, M.G. Award for lecturer

P. Ramanujam, Reader in the English Department of Andhra Loyola College, has been selected for the TCS-Education World Teachers Award. The award was given to Dr. Ramanujam in recognition of his `educational innovations'. __Staff Reporter

BJYM demands

The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has asked the Durga Temple Executive Officer to resign in view of the irregularities committed by officials of the temple vigilance wing. The BJYM city general secretary, B. Sivakumar Patnaik, said in a statement that a CB-CID inquiry should be conducted into the irregularities. __Staff Reporter

Housing for tsunami victims

The Collector, Naveen Mittal, has urged NGOs to build strong houses for tsunami victims. The Anti-Obscenity Forum has appealed to citizens to observe June 21 as a day to protest against eve-teasing, ragging and violent crimes. The MBA student, Sri Lakshmi, was savagely hacked to death on this day last year.
