This Day That Age
Peking Radio announced on June 18 that five U.N. soldiers - three Americans and two Belgians - said to have elected to stay in China after the Korean war were now being allowed to leave the country at their own request. A New China News Agency statement said the three Americans were among 22 U.S. and British soldiers in Korea who refused repatriation. It said the two Belgians were among the three who had elected to stay in China. The agency quoted a Red Cross Society of China statement, "regarding their compliance with the desire of five former U.N. soldiers to leave China."
