This Day That Age
The centenary celebrations of the Madras Zoological Gardens, which will be spread over a week towards the end of September this year, are expected also to mark the expansion of the garden space for the zoo from its present extent of 11 acres to about 19 acres with the addition of a children's zoo on a five-acre plot in front of My Ladye's Garden and about 3.5 acres of land to the east of the present zoo and adjoining Buckingham Canal. An exhibition is being organised in connection with the celebrations and already nearly 50 international zoos have expressed their desire to send pictures and photographs.
