Aid for construction workers

KOZHIKODE:
Construction workers who are seriously ill will now get financial aid from the Kerala Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to undergo treatment. The Board will meet the full expenses for their treatment. There is no ceiling on the aid. Chairman of the Board K.P. Sankaradas said on Friday that under the scheme, 31 workers had received Rs.12.5 lakhs in the State.
The Board's special medical aid scheme covers expenses for treatment for grave illness, including cancer, cardiac problems and diseases that affect the brain and kidney. Among the beneficiaries of the scheme were Jacobshan of Ernakulam who received Rs.2.13 lakhs, Babu of Kozhikode (Rs.2,02 lakhs) and Christopher Raj of Thiruvananthapuram (Rs.1.50 lakhs).
