Two youngsters axed to death

Staff Reporter

GUNTUR: Two youths were allegedly axed to death by their relatives at Veldurthy mandal headquarters in Guntur district on the early hours of Sunday. Family dispute is cited to be the motive behind the murder.

The youngsters, Govind, 25, and Lakshmaiah, 23, were watering their cotton fields at 3 a.m. on Sunday when Konanki Chinnahanumaiah, and three others allegedly attacked the duo, who are cousins, with axes and other sharp weapons, about 1 km from Veldurthy police station, the police said.

The police said that there was a heated argument between Chinnahanumaiah, hailing from Sirigiripadu and the two youngsters, last week over the marriage of a relative. Chinnahanumaiah had reportedly threatened to kill them then.
