Theatre club hosts comedy play

NEW DELHI: Dialogue - the theatre club of Oxford Bookstore - hosted the play `Bade Bhai Sahab', a comedy by Munshi Premchand, over the weekend. The play was performed by Sudhanwa Deshpande along with other members of Jana Natya Manch, a premier street theatre group. The performance was followed by a discussion on `The Relevance of Premchand Today'.

Performed under the umbrella of Dialogue, the play marks the 125th birth anniversary of Munshi Premchand.

Seminar on sports injuries

NEW DELHI: Sports injuries are preventable, said a panel of experts at the first ever seminar on "Sports Injuries for General Practitioners'' organised by the Delhi Medical Association in association with MGMR Group over the weekend.

K K Aggarwal, president of Delhi Medical Association (DMA), and Girish Tyagi, honrary State secretary of DMA, said the key to prevent sports injuries was preparation, both physical and mental.

Physical preparation includes adequate warm up and correct stretching techniques. Regular exercises involve walking, running, jogging and strengthening of muscles. Muscle training should be specific to a particular sport, they said.

Bid to promote women talent

NEW DELHI: Rai Foundation and FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) organised Edu Café 2005 on June 17 and 18 at FICCI Federation House on Tansen Marg here. The Chairperson of the National Commission on Women, Girija Vyas, inaugurated the session on Friday.

Rai Foundation and FLO partnership focuses on the young women talent through scholarship programmes and education counselling. Hema Raghavan, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Rai Foundation announced the scholarship programmes -- "Girl Genius Scholarship" and "Gifted Girl Scholarship" - which would provide a higher education platform for talented and aspiring girl students. NEW DELHI: In its bid to embark on the fifth generation Open and Distance Teaching-Learning Practices, the Indira Gandhi National Open University has invited all State Open Universities and distance education institutes to jointly create a national pool of `best quality materials' for technical and professional competence.

Trekking expeditions

NEW DELHI: Five physically challenged youth are among the record number of 5749 participants who took part in trekking expeditions organised by the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) with a purpose of developing in them a sensitivity towards nature.
