KOCHI: Minister for Fisheries and Sports Dominic Presentation was the chief guest at the International Father's Day function organised on Sunday by the Ministry of Family Apostolate, Archdiocese of Varapuzha. The apostolate also organised a workshop for all animators of its agency, Pitruvedi. Director of the apostolate Douglas Pinheiro said the organisation has been working with the motto "Better family, better society." We observe International Mother's Day also on May 7 each year, he said. "On the event of Father's Day, we want to honour fatherhood and bring fathers who have strayed away from the normal path, back into mainstream life. Each family unit, consisting generally of 30 families, has an animator to correlate with fathers in each of these families. Our aim is to teach fathers under our archdiocese the importance of effective and qualitative fatherhood." Many fathers did not know how to cope with tantrums thrown by teenagers. By spending quality time with children, one could get their respect.
