KOCHI: The All-Kerala Private College Teachers' Association will start an indefinite stir in front of St. Albert's College, Ernakulam, demanding the withdrawal of the suspension of Sebastian K. Antony, Head of the Department of Malayalam in the institution. The executive committee of the association, which met in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, also demanded that the college management take steps to curb the actions of the Principal, which were causing unrest on the campus. The association said the college management that changed the class hours single-handedly in violation of all standing orders had now declared a war against teachers and students. Prof. Sebastian had been suspended for criticising the `irregularities' committed by the management in the statutory bodies of the college, it alleged. The association also demanded that the Mahatma Gandhi University authorities take action against the management of the college for using the infrastructure of the college for catering to the interests of private institutions and other universities, which was in violation of rules and regulations, it alleged. The association also asked the Government to withdraw the Ordinance extending the term of the Syndicates of Kerala and Calicut universities. It demanded the withdrawal of the decision to establish a self-financing law university. President of the association Thomas Joseph presided over the meeting. General secretary A. Prathapachandran Nair presented the report.
