Letters to the Editor
This refers to the Madras High Court's direction to the Sivaganga district administration to ensure the full participation of Dalits in the Kandadevi car festival. Dalits had to struggle long and hard to gain entry into temples: today, they have to struggle to take part in a festival conducted outside a temple. The caste factor is still alive. To ensure participation of Dalits, the State should give them enough protection from the `upper' caste people.
