Literary meet for women on June 26

BIJAPUR: Noted literary figure, Shivalingamma Katti, has been chosen to preside over the Mahila Sahitya Sammelan— an exclusive literary meet for women, which will be held for the first time in Bagalkot on June 26.

The district unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) and the Basaveshwar Vidyavardhak Sangha's "Akkana Balaga" are jointly organising the meet. Bagalkot MLA and president of the sangha, Veeranna Charanthimath, is in charge of the preparations.

The sangha's new auditorium, which is named after the late Sangamma Karaveershettar, will be the venue of the meet.

Mr. Charanthimath who addressed presspersons on Saturday along with the president of the district unit KSP, Vishwanath Vanshakruthmath and the head of Akkana Balaga, Manjulatayi Angadi said over 500 delegates are expected to participate in the meet.

An interactive programme on subjects such as ` the challenges before women', ` the condition of Indian women' and `women's contribution to the literary world' will be oraggnied during the meet.
