TIRUNELVELI: : Demanding implementation of the recommendations of the Kolappan Committee report, farmers of the Tamil Nadu Vivasaaya Thozhilaalar Sangam affiliated to the Communist Party of India staged a road roko at five places in the district in which 635 persons were arrested. In Tirunelveli, when the protestors attempted to block road at Tirunelveli Junction, the police arrested 47 persons, including four women. In the road roko staged at Ambasamudhram, 108 protestors, including the president of the farmers' association, Kasamuthu, were taken into custody while 117 persons, including three women, courted arrest at Sivagiri. At Sankarankovil, 48 cadres, including 20 women, were arrested and at Tenkasi, 315 protestors, including the MP, Appadurai, were arrested.
