Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in the Maraimalai Nagar, Guduvanchery, Padappai, Vandalur, Sengundram, Thirukatchur, Peramanoor, Potheri, Kattankolathur, Appur and Kolathur areas on Tuesday between 6 a.m. and noon for maintenance work.

Anywhere banking

The Oriental Bank of Commerce has implemented an Infosys-created Core Banking Solution system in its 424th branch at Padma Complex today. The branch is the 17th in the city and 38th overall branch to be networked in this way.

K. Srinivas, Regional Head said the extension of these `anywhere banking' services and access to ATM's will help the bank achieve a balance sheet of over Rs. 1,00,000 crores by 2006.

Workshop

Mogappair Industrial School, in association with Fevicryl is conducting a free workshop on basic sculpting and stained glass painting on the June 25.

On June 26, advanced techniques will be taught, such as embroidery using fevicryl products.

Liberal Youth meet

The Indian Liberal Group will send P. Sundar, Corporate Communication Officer of Sundaram Finance to represent the Chennai Chapter of the Indian Liberal Group at a seminar on Liberal Youth in Saarbrucken, Germany from June 21 to July 1.

In the last six months the Chennai chapter of ILG has sent the largest number of delegates for International Liberal Youth meets.

Nominated for CBSE

Mrs. Vijayalakshmi Srivatsan, Principal of P.S. Secondary school, Mylapore has been nominated as a member of the governing body of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, for a three year term.

The CBSE has also appointed her as a member of the Committee on Courses in Chemistry.

Children health camp

The Paediatrics department of the SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre conducted a child health and immunisation camp at T.T.C. Nagar near Guduvanchery.

About 150 children were screened and those in need of specialised treatment were referred to the SRM Hospital for free treatment.

Anti Hepatitis B and Typhoid vaccines were also administered to the children.
