Advocates plan demonstration before Parliament

MADURAI: The Madras High Court Madurai Bench Advocates Association has decided to stage a demonstration before Parliament in the first week of August, if the existing vacancies of Judges in the Madras High Court are not filled by the end of July.

The executive committee of the association, at a meeting held here last week, resolved to request the Chief Justice, Markandey Katju, to appoint 12 judges and more staff members to the Madurai Bench. The association also opposed the proposed amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code.
