`Roll back price hike'

The Tamil Nadu Janata Dal has urged the Centre to withdraw the hike in prices of petrol and diesel announced on Monday.

In a press release, the State general secretary, K. John Moses, said the price hike was against the spirit of common minimum programme of the United Progressive Alliance Government.

Any revision in petrol and diesel prices would immediately reflect in the prices of essential commodities.

Hence, the State Government should cancel the service tax imposed on petrol and diesel and the Centre withdraw the price hike, he said. — Staff Reporter
