Many writers to attend parishat meeting today

MANGALORE: The Kannada Sahitya Parishat has organised a meeting here on Tuesday as part of its "Mathrubasha Madhyama Chaluvali".

Kayyara Kinhanha Rai, writer, will inaugurate the meeting, according to a release from Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, parishat's district unit president, here on Monday.

Amruth Someshwar, Subraya Chokkadi, Erya Laxminarayana Alva, Amir Hasan, Manorama M. Bhat, Kuthyal Nagappa Gowda Sullia, T.G. Madur Panja, Ramachandra Dev Kalmadka, Vi.Ga. Nayak, all writers, will attend the meeting.

Harikrishna Punaroor, former president of the parishat, and Prabhakar Joshi and Srinivas Havanur, scholars, are likely to turn up for the programme.

The need to make Kannada the medium of instruction in primary education, stand on introducing English as language of study from first standard, uniform education system, and making Kannada compulsory language in higher education will be discussed at the meeting.
