Charge against `Doctor Death'

SYDNEY: India-born surgeon Jayant Patel, dubbed as `Doctor Death', refused to wash his hands between operations and was responsible for the high rate of complications among renal unit patients in an Australian hospital where he worked, an inquiry was told on Tuesday.

The probe headed by Tony Morris, is examining the circumstances surrounding the hiring of Dr. Patel, who has been accused of causing 87 deaths in the hospital when he was the director of surgery. — PTI
