Pact with China on fighting graft

Special Correspondent

CBI chief invited to China to share expertise

NEW DELHI: India and China on Monday agreed to establish greater contacts to fight corruption in order to provide a clean administration. An agreement to this effect was reached here at a meeting between a delegation from China and India.

Central Bureau of Investigation Director U.S. Misra led the Indian team, while Ministerial-level Commissioner Liu Fengyan of the Ministry of Supervision, China, led the visiting side.

The CBI extended its training facility at its Academy at Ghaziabad for Chinese officials working in the field of anti-corruption. The Chinese side invited the CBI chief and a team from the premier investigation body to visit China to share their experience and expertise, a CBI release said.

The CBI chief said economic growth had given rise to white-collar crime in the public sector, which was a matter of concern.

He hoped the exchange of information in the field of supervision and India's experience in anti-corruption and clean governance would prove beneficial.

Mr. Liu said China was keen on establishing contacts between the two organisations as anti-corruption work was being given importance in his country.
