Tiruchengode college to host English teaching programme

TIRUCHENGODE: The Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL), Hyderabad, will conduct Post Graduate Certificate in the Teaching of English (PGCTE) at K.S.R. College of Arts and Science here from June 22 to July 21.

According to a release from the K.S.R. College of Arts and Science, in the first three weeks, eminent resource persons such as Prof. V. Prakasam, N.K. Nihalini, S. Padmanabhan, Dr. R.V. Ram, Vipin Kumar, Dr. R. Kishore Kumar and Dr. M. Hariprasad will enlighten on how to teach phonetics, spoken English and recent trends in teaching of English and its Pedagogy.

The participants (in service English teachers) are from Orissa, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. According to the release, K.S.R. College of Arts and Science is the only centre in Tamil Nadu conducting contact programme for the past five years.

So far 400 teachers of English have benefited from this programme.

The PGCTE is meant for teachers of English in universities, colleges and schools across the country. Nearly 85 English teachers from the country will benefit.
