On-campus-online counselling for NIT admission begins on July 1

Staff Reporter

Off-campus-online counselling began on Monday

KOZHIKODE: The on-campus-online counselling for Kerala students for admission to the B.Tech./B.Arch. programmes (2005-06) of the 18 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) will be held at NIT, Calicut, (NIT-C) from July 1 to 12. The first phase of the counselling process, off-campus-online counselling, that began at NIT-C on June 20 will continue till June 27.

The counselling is for candidates who studied 10+2 or equivalent programmes in Kerala and Lakshadweep and those who studied abroad but having their permanent address in Kerala (in their passports). The eligibility for counselling is based on the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE-2005) conducted by the CBSE. NIT-C is the only counselling centre in Kerala for students from the State and Lakshadweep.

For off-campus-online counselling, the candidates have to log on to the website www.ccb.nic.in and click `Off-Campus'. (The candidates have to enter the login ID and password, for which the AIEEE 2005 admit card is required.) Based on the instructions given on the screen, the candidates can give their choices.

During the off-campus-online counselling phase, a candidate can get the following information: the number of candidates with higher merit who would have already exercised their choices; the number of higher merit-holders yet to exercise their choice; and the current status of branch-wise and institution-wise available seats.

For the on-campus-online phase, the candidates must report to NIT-C at 8 a.m. with all original certificates along with the required initial deposit and as per the schedule given. They will have to report for counselling on the date as per their all-India rank and the schedule given. They will have to stay for next day to know the result and to get the allotment letter. Counselling in absentia (proxy) will not be allowed even on medical grounds, T.K. Sureshbabu, Chairman, Admissions, NIT-C, said in a release here on Tuesday.

For further details, candidates are advised to visit www.ccb.nic.in or contact 0495-2286118.
