Qatar to open consulate in State

DUBAI: Qatar is planning to open its consulate in Kerala for catering to the needs of large Keralite work force seeking jobs in the country.

This assurance was given by Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry Abdulla bin Hamad Al Attiyah to K. C. Joseph, an MLA from Kerala, on Monday at a gathering of Doha's Indian community leaders here.

Mr. Joseph also brought to the Minister's attention the problems faced by Indian companies in Qatar due to stringent visa procedures for Indians.

Mr. Attiyah said he would look into the problems faced by Indian expatriate community due to high house rents forcing employees to send back their families, Mr. Joseph added. - UNI
