Lalu demands photo ID cards to all Bihar voters

K. Balchand

PATNA: In an apparent bid to build to put pressure on the Election Commission, the Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo and Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad, announced on Tuesday his decision to hit the streets to force the Commission to issue photo identity cards to all voters ahead of the Assembly elections in the State.

Movement planned

Addressing party workers here, Mr. Prasad expressed his displeasure over the manner in which rural voters had been prevented from exercising their franchise and said that his party would launch a movement across the State.

Party workers would march to their respective district Collectorate and demand that they be given photo-identity cards so that they were not once again deprived of their constitutional right to cast their votes.
