NEW DELHI: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has fixed/revised the prices of scheduled bulk drugs ranitidine Hcl, nalidixic acid, erythromycin and its derivatives naproxen/naproxen sodium and norfloxacin under the provisions of DPCO, 1995. The notified price of bulk drug ranitidine hcl has been revised downwards from Rs. 690 to Rs. 625 a kg after conducting a cost price study. This works out to a decrease of 9.42 per cent in comparison to the earlier notified price. The notified price of bulk drug nalidixic acid has been revised upwards from Rs. 1,562 to Rs. 1,623 a kg. The prices of bulk drugs erythromycin estolate (ex-fermentation Rs. 3,502 a kg and ex-TIOC Rs. 2,197 a kg) have been revised to a single price of Rs. 2,063. Similarly, the price of erythromycin base (ex-fermentation Rs. 4,803 and ex-TIOC Rs. 2,571) has been revised to a single price of Rs. 2,092 a kg. The price of erthromycin stearate, erythromycin ethyl succinate and erythromycin propionate has been revised from Rs. 1,861 to Rs. 1,465 and Rs. 3,127 to Rs. 2,892 and Rs. 3,024 to Rs. 2,318 a kg respectively. The notified prices of bulk drugs naproxen and naprozen sodium were revised downward from Rs. 4,864 and Rs. 5,385 to Rs. 1,864 and Rs. 1,916 a kg, a decrease of 61.68 per cent and 64.42 per cent respectively in comparison to earlier notified prices. The notified price of bulk drugs norfloxacin was revised downward from Rs. 2,162 to Rs. 860 a kg. PTI
