Working hours of telegraph offices reduced

Telegraph offices, centres to be closed on Sundays

VISAKHAPATNAM: Working hours of the Central Telegraph Office (CTO) here and Telegraph Offices (TOs) and Telecom Centres (TCs) in the city and other places in the Telecom district have been reduced, with effect from June 26. The TOs and TCs functioning at present on Sundays and holidays though for reduced hours, will be completely closed, except for the Anakapalle Telegraph Office.

``However, the centralised phonogram service (185) is available at the CTO which can be accessed by every customer in the entire Telecom district,'' its General Manager, J. Ganta, said in a press release here on Tuesday.

New schedule

The CTO here would function from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays and holidays. Its present timings are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on week days and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays and holidays.

The TOs at Dabagardens, Akkayyapalem, Gajuwaka, Andhra University and the Steel Plant will function from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during week days and will remain closed on Sundays and holidays. Earlier, they were working from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Anakapalle TO, at present working from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on week days and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays and holidays, will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on week days and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m on Sundays and holidays.

The TCs at Narsipatnam, Yelamanchili, Chodavaram, Paderu, Bheemunipatnam, Gopalapatnam and Gandhigram (open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on week days and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sundays and holidays at present) and Railway Station (from 6 a.m to midnight on all days) will function from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on week days and will remain closed on Sundays and holidays with effect from June 26.
