Ban on Maoists a political issue, says Swaranjit Sen

Staff Reporter

Police have a job to do, says Swaranjit Sen

SANGAREDDY: The question of imposing ban on Maoists is entirely a political issue, according to the Director-General of Police, Swaranjit Sen.

Addressing a press conference at Siddipet on Tuesday night, he said: "We have to do our job whether there is ban or no ban," the DGP clarified. He said that the police come into picture only when someone breaks the law.

Ultimatums by the Maoists were nothing new and they target some innocent persons to prove their point, the DIG observed, answering a question on killing of an MPTC member in Karimnagar district by Maoists.

He said that concerned district superintendent of police could provide security if any one of the people's representatives needs it. "Even in China, the cradle of Maoist revolution, the Government is adopting democratic process and looking for partnership with democratic India," the DGP said.
