Govt. of Seychelles signs pact with Mysore varsity

The MoU provides for students from Seychelles to study for one year in Mysore and another year in their country

MYSORE: The University of Mysore and the Government of Seychelles signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday for greater cooperation in the field of higher education.

The MoU provides for teachers training leading to masters degree in education for students from Seychelles. The MoU was signed by Danny Fanre, Minister for Education, Government of Seychelles, and J. Shashidhar Prasad, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore.

Twenty-five students from Seychelles will study here and the expenses will be borne by the Seychelles Government and the intake will be increased from the next academic year.

The MoU follows a positive feedback from students of Seychelles, who studied here and impressed upon their Government about the quality of education prevailing in the university.

Seychelles, being a small resource deficient country in the western part of Indian Ocean and belonging to the continent of Africa, lacks in teacher training institute and hence the MoU with the University of Mysore, said N.D.Tiwari, Registrar of the university.

The MoU provides for students from Seychelles to study for one year in Mysore and another year in their country to complete the education. Prof. Tiwari, and R. Indira, Director of the Centre for International Programme, were present on the occasion.
