Israeli woman found dead in Delhi farmhouse

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The body of a 24-year-old Israeli woman was found under highly mysterious circumstances in a posh Westend Greens farmhouse at Vasant Kunj in the Capital on Tuesday. The body bore a head injury. The police said they were investigating "all angles". It was around 2-30 p.m. that the police received a call from the farmhouse of a builder, Sudarshan Kohli, informing them that a family guest had died in their house.

Senior police officers and the local police station staff rushed to the spot and found the body lying near the staircase close to one of the entrances to the main building. The Kohlis told the police that the woman, Ida Shaked, was an Israeli national and a friend of Sudarshan Kohli's second son, Ankush.

Met in Almora

According to them, Ankush met Ida during a trip to Almora in Uttaranchal about 10 days ago and befriended her. While returning to Delhi, Ankush offered her a room to stay in at Westend Greens farmhouse, where she had moved in over a week ago.

During questioning by the police on Tuesday evening, Ankush purportedly said that Ida had been in India for the past four months. On Tuesday afternoon Ankush and other members of the family had gathered in the dining hall for lunch but Ida did not turn up. "We then started looking for her and found her body near the staircase."

While the dog squad was called in by the police to search the premises, senior officers said they would wait for the post-mortem report before reaching any conclusion.
