RSS downplays remarks

GHAZIABAD: The RSS on Tuesday sought to downplay its chief K.S. Sudarshan's praise of Indira Gandhi's leadership saying this should not be interpreted as a ``big certificate'' and asserting it did not support ``dictators.''

``We are not a political organisation and so we do not always have to be politically correct. Something may be said about Indira Gandhi or Jawaharlal Nehru but it does not mean that a big certificate has been given or that RSS does not know history,'' its spokesman Ram Madhav told a training programme of Swayamsevaks. — PTI
