BJP for all-party team to Delhi on SC categorisation

Staff Reporter

Categorisation of Scheduled Castes

HYDERABAD: The BJP State unit has demanded reservation for Scheduled Castes (SCs) after categorising them into groups on the basis of population, as has been done in the case of Backward Classes (BCs).

Putting forth the demand, the party president, N. Indrasena Reddy, wrote a letter to the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Tuesday asking the Government to send an all-party delegation to New Delhi at the earliest for bringing pressure on the Centre to implement the SC categorisation.

The BJP leader recalled that the Government in 1997 categorised SCs as A,B,C and D on the basis of recommendations made by the Jagannadha Raju Commission.
