Staff Reporter

Dispute over sharing of booty

HYDERABAD: Mohd. Salam, who was allegedly involved in several criminal activities in and around Hyderabad, was shot dead by his associates in Osmanabad police station area of Maharashtra two days ago. The police suspect that internal fighting over sharing of booty led to the killing.

Confirming this, officials of the Hyderabad Detective Department said the murder was committed on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. The Osmanabad police picked up three of his associates in connection with the killing on Tuesday night.

The police of Hyderabad and Cyberabad had been on the lookout for Salam and his gang in connection with many cases. Members of the gang allegedly opened fire inside a theatre in Rajendranagar a few months ago following a dispute with some of the theatre workers.

The gang was allegedly involved in taking away gold ornaments weighing 1.5 kg and Rs. 70,000 at knifepoint at Street No. 6 in Himayathnagar from a businessman, M. Anjaiah, a month ago.

Petrol bunk looted

Dacoits raided a petrol bunk at Kishanguda, three km from Shamshabad on the city fringes, and took away Rs. 5,000 in cash and a mobile phone in the early hours of Tuesday.
