Commissioner issues notices to top officials

Staff Reporter

Allowing bars to function beyond permitted hours

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, V. Dinesh Reddy, on Tuesday issued notices to the West Zone DCP, N. Sanjay, two ACPs and three Inspectors for allowing bars, pubs and clubs in their areas to operate beyond permitted hours.

The notices were issued following the raids conducted by Commissioner's Task Force teams on Monday during which many bars and clubs were found operating beyond permitted hours.

Along with the DCP, Sanjay, the ACPs, K. Muralidhar Rao (Banjara Hills) and R. Gopal Raju (Panjagutta) and Inspectors, James Diwakar (Panjagutta), L.T. Chandrashekhar (Banjara Hills) and M. Venkateswar Rao (Bowenpally) were asked to explain as to why the places were being allowed to operate late night illegally.

In an internal meeting, Mr. Reddy expressed displeasure with the reportedly slack supervision of the officers and sought to know if there was any connivance of the lower rung men with the managements of the clubs.
