HYDERABAD: The Centre for Good Governance (CGG) is to have another campus, a more spacious and exclusive facility, spread over six acres at Gachibowli by next year with the Government clearing the allocation of land. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, also the Chairman of CGG, is learnt to have cleared the proposal to expand the institute's infrastructure base after a review of its annual activities. The new facility will be constructed by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation at a cost of Rs. 12 crores drawn from CGG's internal funds. Senior CGG officials said funds would be raised from consultancy and project services it was undertaking for different agencies and Government departments.
World Bank pat
The institute, which acquired nationwide focus after coming out with the concept paper for Good Governance and on civil service reforms among others, had scored another high when its evaluation work for a World Bank workshop last month in New Delhi was much appreciated. Dr. Reddy, who is expected to lay the foundation stone for the new facility shortly, is said to have promised help to make the centre a world-class institute. Currently, the CGG is operating from within the campus of the Dr. Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Institute in Jubilee Hills. With the United Kingdom's Department for International Development (DFID), giving positive signs of renewing its association with the institute, which the former had helped the Government in setting up four years ago, the new campus is likely to have a state-of-the-art library, ultramodern conference halls and hostels. "As we keep moving towards a knowledge-based society, it is imperative to train administrators and public representatives to be in tune with people's aspirations," said a senior official. Interesting projects under way include e-municipality, perspective plan for the health sector and preparing concept papers for enacting public service laws to regulate recruitment.
