THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As waves continued to ravage coastal areas in the district on Tuesday, more families were moved to the temporary relief camp at Thazhampally in Chirayinkeezh taluk. A fisherman who ventured out into sea from Anchuthengu was injured when his boat capsized in the huge waves. Abraham, 55, has been admitted to Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, with broken ribs and injuries to the spine. Tahsildar K. Velayudhan visited the hospital and arranged for emergency treatment. The number of families relocated to the St. Veronica Church School on Tuesday went up to 111. The Harbour Engineering Department on Tuesday continued efforts to repair the seawall at Thazhampally, which was damaged by the pounding of the waves. Efforts were on to shore up the damaged stretch using sand bags and rocks, Mr. Velayudhan said. Officials feared the hartal would disrupt repair work and undo the work done.
