NEW DELHI: Four persons allegedly involved in several cases of chain-snatching reported from South Delhi and South-West Delhi in the recent past have been arrested by the South Delhi police. The alleged receiver of stolen property has also been arrested. The Lajpat Nagar police had arrested two persons on June 18 around 7 p.m. near Garhi. The motorcycle they were riding on was seized and a country made revolver recovered from their possession. The duo revealed that they were members of a chain snatching gang led by Joginder Prasad. Subsequently, Joginder and associates were arrested. Those arrested have been identified as Imamuddin, Karan Singh and Deepak. The police also arrested the receiver of stolen property, Gaurav, who owned a small jewellery shop in Badarpur. Two more motorcycles, which the accused had allegedly been using in the snatchings, were also recovered from them. The police claim to have solved 60 cases of chain snatching with these arrests. According to the police, Imamuddin provided motorcycles for snatching and also participated in the crime. Joginder would call up any of his associates on a given day and snatch chains of women when they were walking through lonely stretches.
