Man robbed of cash, pushed from train

NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old man was robbed of cash and then pushed down a moving train by four unidentified men near Shahdara in North-East Delhi on Tuesday.

According to the police, Rizwan, a bangle seller living at Khajuri Khas in North-East Delhi, had gone to Old Delhi railway station around 6 a.m. to catch a train for Ferozabad in Uttar Pradesh to buy bangles. As the train he intended to catch was running late, he boarded an express train.

Around 8 a.m., when the train neared Shahdara, a young man accosted Rizwan near the toilet of the coach. He was soon joined by three more men who forced Rizwan to part with Rs. 15,000 he had kept in his shirt pocket and also hand over the bag in which he was carrying another Rs. 15,000. Following an argument, they pushed Rizwan down the train. Rizwan escaped with minor injuries as the train was travelling at slow speed. He spotted some people after walking for about half a kilometre and told them about his plight. Subsequently, the police were informed.

A case of robbery has been registered at the Shahdara railway police station and further investigations in the case are on.
