BANGALORE: The Lokayukta police on Monday arrested a senior official in the Department of Legal Metrology when he was allegedly accepting Rs. 10,000 for removing the name of an official from the list of officials recommended for transfer. The Lokayukta police said Mallikarjun, Deputy Controller of the department, who holds additional charge as Controller, allegedly demanded Rs. 50,000 from Gopalappa, Assistant Controller, for the favour. They agreed that Rs. 10,000 will be handed over.
Complaint
The Lokayukta police arrested Mallikarjun at his office on Ali Askar Road on a complaint from Gopalappa's brother, Rajanna. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been booked, the Lokayukta police said.
