Rail users welcome move

Staff Reporter

New daily express between Erode and Tirupati sought

ERODE: Rail users here have welcomed the conversion of the Yercaud Express as a Super Fast Express train from July 1. Railway authorities said that with effect from July 1, the Yercaud Express plying between Erode and Chennai would be made a Super Fast Express train.

It is stated that the halting stations would be limited after the train was made a Super Fast Express.

Headquarter change

While welcoming the decision, rail users demanded the Railway Ministry to make Erode or Salem the headquarters of the railway division. They also demanded that a new daily express train be introduced between Erode and Tirupati. They urged that the present Jana Satapthi Express between Coimbatore and Thanjavur be converted as Intercity Express from Coimbatore to Kumbakonam.

The rail users sent a memorandum to the Railway Ministry two days back.
