Haryana
HISAR: To tide over power shortage in parts of the State, the Haryana Government is purchasing additional power of 400 megawatt from neighbouring States. Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda told reporters here that the power supply in the State would improve by June 30. He said that the supply of additional power which Haryana was purchasing from other States would start from July 1. Parts of Haryana are reeling under acute power shortage with cuts ranging for several hours. Mr. Hooda said that keeping in view the scarcity and demand of power the availability of power had improved for which about 330 MW power from Himachal Pradesh and 75 MW from Uttaranchal had been purchased. He said that the additional capacity of 103 MW power had been increased at Thermal Power Plant, Faridabad. The Chief Minister said that a target had been fixed to generate 3000 MW power over coming few years and added that after this there would be no shortage of power in the State. In reply to a question, Hooda said that the Chairmen of Boards and Corporations would be appointed soon. He said that a scheme for beautification and keeping the environment clean of the cities had been formulated and an amount of Rs. 100 crore had been earmarked for this. He said that besides urban areas, the State Government was committed to provide basic facilities to the people of rural areas.- PTI
