DEHRA DUN: The Central Provident Fund Commissioner, Anirudh Rai, has urged the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation officials to step up their efficiency to emerge leaders in the pension sector. Laying the foundation stone of the Bhavishya Nidhi Parisar here, Mr Rai said that pension was emerging as the most promising sector where even foreign players were interested. "We will have to be the best service providers and not get entangled in self imposed red tape. The need is for every employee of the organisation to develop a new mindset of prompt and accurate service to the subscribers and the employers'', he said. Mr Rai wanted the social security cover to be extended to a lot more people as only four crore of the 40 crore workers working in the organized and unorganized sectors were covered at present. The recently passed Right to Information Bill grants a legal right to the subscribers to know their settlement details and the organization as well as the employers and trade unions should educate the workers on this aspect, he said. P D Sankhala, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Uttaranchal said that all-out efforts were being made to increase the number of persons under PF cover and the claims were being settled within a record 15 days. The State Government had agreed to extend the PF benefits to casual workers in the Irrigation Department and it is hoped that other departments would also be asked to do the same, he said.
