KURNOOL:
The Director-General of Police, Swaranjit Sen, accompanied by his wife, Anita Sen, paid homage to the RSI, B.P. Narasimhulu, who was killed in an exchange of fire with the extremists in Cuddapah district yesterday.
The DGP placed a wreath on the body. He consoled the parents and sisters of the slain officer and promised all help from the organisation.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Sen called upon people to join hands with the police to drive the extremists out of the State.
'If the police also adopted the same methods as the Maoists, they would be nowhere, he said adding that despite the other group indulging in unjust war, the police would follow the procedure of law.
The DGP described the extremists as "barbaric lot'' who had indulged in mindless violence.
They should be ashamed of what they were doing. It is high time the public realised the gravity of the situation and strengthened the hands of police in their fight against the extremists.
The DGP described the slain RSI as courageous officer who preferred to challenging the enemy rather than dropping the arms. He said the Government announced an ex gratia of Rs. 9 lakhs and the organisation would look after his parents
